What Can Cause Insomnia?
Sleep is something vitally important to our well-being, but most people take it for granted. They have no idea how hard some people struggle to sleep. Some can’t fall asleep, some will constantly wake up too early. Either way, they won’t be rested well enough for the day, and will spend it feeling tired.

As we get older, our melatonin production decreases. This is the hormone that makes us sleep. You will often see that old people will have shorter sleep cycles than young people.
If you’re taking any kind of drug, this also may be the cause of your insomnia. Insomnia is a common side effect for many drugs. Withdrawal from a drug can also be the cause.
When you have an anxiety disorder, there is a good chance that you also have trouble falling asleep. When you are feeling anxiety, you are too alert to fall asleep. Your mind and body are racing and your senses are hyped up to the max. It’s not exactly and ideal state of being for falling asleep.
Depression can also be the reason for insomnia. When you have this kind of insomnia, it will usually manifest in waking up a lot. Most of the time you will be well awake, long before you are supposed to get up.
