Walk in shower kits
Walk in showers are becoming increasingly common in homes across America, rapidly replacing less modern options. Many of the more expensive options are built right into the bathroom, and the floor is set level with the bathroom floor. However, a cheaper option is to buy a DIY shower kit, which can be installed quickly and easily in almost any bathroom, or in a small room that you would like to convert into a shower room.
The biggest difference between this kind of shower and a bespoke walk in shower, is that the shower comes as a self contained unit, with a shower tray that is raised slightly above floor level. This is necessary for a self contained shower kit, but does unfortunately mean that a small step up is required to enter the shower, which may make it slightly more difficult to enter for people with mobility difficulties.
However, for most people and families, the benefits of such a unit – for example, the ease of installation, removal and maintenance if necessary – outweigh this factor.
