To Finance or To Buy Forklift Trucks

Buying a forklift truck is definitely a need for some companies, especially those who need to transfer products or materials from one place to another inside the warehouse, or for loading and unloading some products and merchandises. But unfortunately, acquiring this machine is not that easy. First of all, this machine is expensive and that is why smaller businesses can’t even afford this machine.

So, business owners actually have options in getting this machine. They can either finance or they can also buy a second hand forklift if they cannot afford buying a new one yet.

Financing or leasing or renting a forklift is a good option to consider. When you think of it, it actually has some advantages. First, you can manage your cash more properly (ideal for business that is just starting), and second is, your preventative maintenance is more flexible if you just lease instead of buying. Not bad, right? The thing that most people do not like in financing though is the paperwork. When you are considering this option, you must be prepared with papers from your business and you also have to check your credit score beforehand. Credit scores are very helpful when you are applying for financing a forklift. A bad credit score won’t really help you and you will also have to have a personal guarantor or PG if that happens. But the amount of paperwork usually depends on the requirements of the manufacturing firm, which is also mostly in-house in some companies. Revenues of your business, the length of time that your business has been functioning, the type of ownership of your business are also factors that determine the need for a PG.

On the other hand, you can also opt for buying a second-hand forklift truck. You should be careful though because forklifts can wear and tear easily especially if they are used intensely, like 6 days a week and 16 hours per day. If this is the case, then just don’t buy it. To be sure that you bought a good forklift, you can consult with a private third-party that is expert in checking a forklift and ask his opinion on it.
