Hints for Buying Quality Foreclosed RVs for Sale at Auction
Hint #1: Unless you want to spend a lot of time and money fixing it up, avoid foreclosed RVs for sale that are in poor condition or need a lot of work. Sure they are cheaper, but usually the cost of fixing them up like new is just not worth it. Not to mention the likelihood that they will have additional problems. Look for something in better shape instead.
Hint #2: Pay attention to the manufacturer. In general, the better quality an RV is when it is new, the better it will age. An little bit older RV with less upgrades made by a better company can be a much better choice than the newer RV with additional features made by a company that has a history of performance issues. Many things can be added to your RV, but you can’t change the quality of its construction.
Hint #3: Bring along a friend to the preview time. It is best if you have a knowledgeable friend that knows about RVs and their mechanics, but even if they aren’t, having both of you look at the RVs means you are less likely to overlook a potential problem or needed repair.
Hint #4: Always have your notes with you at the auction. Whether you make paper or electronic notes, be sure you have the number of and your highest bid for each foreclosed RV for sale. You want to double check to make sure you bid on the right one and that you stick to your set price. Even if you are only interested in a few, it is easy to get things mixed up and make a mistake. You don’t want to end up buying the wrong RV or paying the wrong price.
Hint #5: Consider hiring a used RV dealer to buy for you. If you are concerned about inspecting and buying a foreclosed RV on your own, you can find a dealer who will make the purchase for you. Often these are smaller dealers who don’t own lots, but instead make a living looking for and buying RVs for their customers. Each one does it a little differently, but expect to pay a flat fee or commission for their service. While you will pay more this way, their expertise and knowledge may actually save you money and should help you avoid getting an RV with a lot of problems or that is a real lemon.
