I am pleading with people not to just let their homes go into default. There is now a lot of help available out there.

The President and the banks have come together to provide some unique opportunities to get a mortgage loan modification. This just means that the loan can be extended out over a longer period of time, or the interest rate can be lowered, or the principal itself can be cut down a bit.

All of these loan modification plans will lower your monthly payment; maybe significantly. I’m not saying that it’s easy to get approved for these deals, but there definitely is a big opportunity right now. Don’t let pride get in your way: it’s better for the long-term viability of our national economy if you stay in your house.
