Flat Shoes For Everyone
Some women are flats fanatics. Others won’t wear anything but their trusted heels. Usually, the cause of their preference is their height. Short women want heels to make them taller, and tall women don’t want to add more height to their legs.
However, you don’t need to stay in your box. Every woman should wear flats at least some of the time. They are almost universally more comfortable than heels. When you find the right pair, they can add just as much spunk to an outfit as the best heels. Here are some simple rules on how to make sure you are getting the best shoes for you.
There are a lot of boring classified shoes flats out there, and that is coming from a flats fanatic. A bold pop of color on an otherwise boring flat will liven it right up. Look for fun textures, like leather and velvet. And flats don’t have to be simple in shape. Pointy flats are a huge hit this season. Having some shoe pins on hand can liven up any pair of flats.
The clothes you wear with flats will make a big difference to the overall look of the flat shoes. With ballet flats, you could wear wider sleeves or a baby doll top in order to give the flowing feel of a ballerina. You could continue this with a floor length, full skirt. But beware, those cute flats that you’ve picked out may be completely hidden.
Unlike character shoes, flats will not extend the length of your legs. In fact, if paired wretchedly, they will make your legs look shorter. Many skirts will look great with flats, but if you are not going for floor length, the skirt needs to end above your knee. Otherwise, the amount of leg showing will shorten your legs and make them look stumpy.
Skinny jeans are a no-no with flats unless your legs are really skinny. Even then, you’ll want to pair it with a larger shirt, or else you’ll appear to have no shape. If your legs are not super skinny, the skinny jeans paired with flats will make your legs look very wide. You need something of substance on your feet when wearing skinny jeans and flats just won’t cut it, even in a bold color. Capri pants and straight cut long pants go wonderfully with flats, though.
