Are You a Candidate for Implants?

Have you had some teeth extracted? If you have missing teeth, replacing them is often a primary goal your Dentist in Memphis will have as they need to ensure that your speech is not being impacted and that your bite is not misaligned. Implants can become costly, especially if you need to have bone graphs that will be able to support the implants better.

Most of the implants that are used are called root-form implants. This is because they are made of titanium, which means they are very strong and extremely durable. A small screw will be attached directly to your jaw, which often requires bone graphs to build up the bone to ensure that it’s strong enough to support the implant. This can increase the cost of your implants.

After the screw is in place you will need to have an abutment attached to it. This is basically the replacement part for the core part of your tooth and it will be responsible for holding the crown in place. The jaw will need to properly grow around the implant and support in for it to work. This is why titanium is used because the jawbone typically accepts it as part of your body and will bond to it.

Implants rarely fail as they have a 99% success rate. Most of the problems that occur with implants will happen in the first year as your body may reject the bone graphs and you will need to start over with the implant process. Once the oral surgeon has completed the implant process you will go back to your Memphis Dentist to have them install the crown that will serve as your new tooth.  Implants give you a chance to have teeth again and many people prefer them over dentures as they are comfortable and they are just like having real teeth.

Symptoms of B12 Deficiency

You have probably heard of vitamin B12 before, but you may not know exactly what it does in the body.  You also may not know just what serious business a b12 deficiency is or the b12 deficiency symptoms that you need to look out for.  Read on to understand how important vitamin B12 is to your body’s functioning and the many early signs of low levels of vitamin B12.

Every cell in your body must have vitamin B12 in order to function properly.  In order for red blood cells to form properly, vitamin B12 in required.    Your neurological system also relies on B12 to function.  The fatty substance that protects your nerve cells, called myelin, needs B12 in order to properly form.

B12 deficiency very commonly goes undiagnosed.  Doctors very often mistake neurological issues for Alzheimer’s disease.  Very often, elderly individuals will assume that what is really early b12 deficiency signs are just normal signs of aging.  Because low levels of B12 have been linked to chronic diseases like hear disease, stroke, cancer, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, it is important that you catch a B12 deficiency as quickly as possible.

Fatigue, diarrhea, constipation, pale skin, confusion, paranoia, shortness of breath, depression, memory loss and a loss of appetite are all common symptoms of a B12 deficiency.  Most symptoms are the direct result of the body not being able to produce enough red blood cells to carry oxygen through the body.

The most common treatment for a B12 deficiency is B12 shots.  Oral supplements are not usually enough to deal with a B12 deficiency because B12 absorption is an extremely complex process.  The truth is that most people who have a b12 deficiency consume plenty of B12 but their bodies are not able to absorb it.    Since a b12 shot goes directly into the blood stream, absorption issues are eliminated.

The Three Asics Running Shoe Categories

Buying running shoes can be a confusing task as you try to work out the difference between the vast ranges of shoes sitting on the wall in the running store. To help solve the confusion Asics running shoes have been divided into three categories to explain the different problems the shoes have been designed to avoid.

The three categories in the Asics range are Structured Cushioning, Cushioning and Maximum Support and they each provide a different type of feature for your feet. Some people require much more cushioning while others need more motion control and stability. The shoes in each of these ranges have been designed to incorporate protective features for the feet and legs with lightweight high-performance material.

For versatile training shoes that can also be used quite comfortably in races you can’t go past the shoes from the Structured Cushioning category. These shoes provide you with plenty of support and cushioning while remaining light in weight. They are a durable shoe that makes use of the GEL cushioning system and have been designed for the biomechanically efficient runner who may have a slight over-pronation issue.

Pronation is the way the body works to absorb shock by rotating the bones of the foot so that the weight is borne mainly on the inside of the foot. This is a natural process but for people with high arches the foot tends to hit without pronating resulting in the shock of impact being transferred directly to the foot and leg. Shoes in the Cushioning category have added padding in the midsole to provide cushioned running shoes to compensate for this.

The opposite is over-pronation and is often found in people with flat feet. In this case the motion control is not developed enough to control the level of pronation that occurs and the foot can roll significantly too far. This is where shoes in the Maximum Support category are required and they assist in minimizing the pronation process.

No matter whether you are an efficient runner or a runner who requires extra cushioning or support there will be a shoe that meets your needs. That shoe might come from the Asics range or it could come from one of the other top brands. Make sure you try on a range of shoes so that you come up with a shoe that suits you best.

If getting your children to eat healthier is a struggle for you, you may try adding quinoa to their diet!  While some children hate to try new foods, most love the taste and texture of quinoa.  A great way to get resistant children started eating quinoa is to add it into meatballs.  Just substitute quinoa for breadcrumbs in your favorite recipe.  If you do not have one, try mine.  Start by cooking your quinoa.  Then mix it with extra lean ground beef, goat cheese, fresh parsley, ground flax, salt and pepper.  Once everything is combined in a large bowel you can form your meatballs.  Bake them for 10 minutes at 400 degrees.

If you enjoy soup, add some quinoa to help you stay full longer.  My favorite soup with quinoa is minestrone.  Simply combine white kidney beans, tomatoes, water, carrots, fennel, thyme, bay leaves, garlic and onion and bring to a simmer.  Add in quinoa and allow to cook for 20 minutes.  You can even add in some chopped spinach towards the end of cooking for an added nutritional punch.

Quinoa is just as great for breakfast as it is at other times of the day.  Instead of just oatmeal, try mixing quinoa and oatmeal.  Just top with some fresh berries and agave nectar and you have a great breakfast.  This is just a start at looking at the many ways that you can enjoy quinoa.  Be creative!  There are many ways to make quinoa salad or you can try adding it into your stir fry recipes.

Lightweight and not bulky seems to be the norm regarding sweaters worn by golfers.  This helps to promote a slenderizing fit, which is the desire of most people.  Wearing attire that is bulky can impact golf performance and it certainly is not a flattering look.

Tailbone Relief With a Cushion

If you are suffering from pain due to injury or inflammation of the coccyx (the vertebrae and the end of the spine) you know the importance of keeping any direct pressure off these vertebrae which make up the tailbone. Your physician will have recommended purchase of a quality coccyx seat cushion or tailbone seat cushion. When you start your shopping search you need to understand that there are several cushion options.

Wedge-shaped cutout section

The vestigial bones that make up the coccyx are at the very end of the spine and are the first bones to touch a chair–a very bad thing if you need to cushion and protect them. The wedge cushion has a triangular or u-shaped wedge cut out of one side. This opening creates a little space that the tailbone can occupy without touching either the cushion or the chair. The design of the cushion also helps maintain correct posture so that the attempts to keep the coccyx safe don’t yield other back pains from awkward postures. Ideally the pelvis will lean forward so that the weight is taken off the lower area of the back where the tailbone is.

Donut-Hole or Ring Coccyx Seat Cushion

The most well know cushion is the donut seat cushion design with the “donut hole” in the middle. There are advantages and disadvantages to these cushions for obvious reasons. The complete circle created by the ring means the coccyx bones will be touching something which may cause discomfort or even hinder healing. You may end up chopping up your donut cushion to create an opening where the tailbone can fit without touching anything.

Most individuals suffering from these extremely painful and inconvenient injuries feel the best coccyx cushion is the one with the nice wedge opening so the little bones have their own space. One such cushion is the Tush-cush, very popular and easy to locate for sale. Some cushions have gel in them to create the cushioning effect and others are inflatable. Keeping comfortable with this type of injury is very difficult and if one cushion does not work, sufferers need to experiment until they find the best coccyx cushion for their individual comfort.
