Despite some people being more susceptible to acne scars than others, it is a good idea to try and prevent them or make them less severe where possible.

Acne scars can best be avoided by  not squeezing or scraping pimples, and avoiding scrubbing the skin.

Cleansing the skin twice a day with mild soap and warm water is best, but scrubbing can increase scarring. Some people with sensitive skin will inevitably experience scarring, but a gentle approach can reduce the severity of scarring.

Acne treatments which are abrasive can also irritate the skin and make acne scars worse. Scrubs may seem like a good idea, but the gentler your skin is treated, the less likely it will be irritated with worse scarring as the outcome of irritation.

If you already have scars, see the following site for information about how to get rid of acne scars.
