Aluminum Roofing Versus Hurricanes
An aluminum roof is much lighter than roofs that use conventional materials. This leads some people to believe that they’re intrinsically weak, and unable to deal with conditions that abound during heavy or catastrophic storms. This is where aluminum roofing material is truly surprising. Aluminum roofs aren’t just light, they’re incredibly strong as well. Think about it for a second – this is the same material used on spacecraft and in modern architecture. Depending on the way it’s installed, this kind of metal roofing can survive all sorts of disasters that would literally blow other materials away. There have been many cases where types of aluminum roofing have beaten hurricanes. So don’t think that metal roofing can’t stand up to natural disasters. If you’re in an area that sees a lot of harsh weather, make sure the contractor knows about it so that he can install it in a way that will strengthen the roofing material instead of emphasizing exterior looks.
