Airsoft as a Recreational Sport
There are a lot of people who aim to play airsoft professionally, and some of these dreamers do end up achieving their goal. But since airsoft is a relatively small sport, there is not much room for professional players, and the majority of enthusiasts play only recreationally. At the very most, these kinds of players can win money from friendly tournaments, but they receive no direct payment. Airsoft is an incredibly fun recreational sport which nearly anybody can get into, and it is arguably much more exciting than any of the mainstream sports played widely today, such as basketball and football.
The best thing about this game is that it allows people to live out their fantasies of fighting in a war or law enforcement situation. While being in the real thing is actually quite terrifying and certainly not fun at all, when you are just playing around, it is one of the funnest activities that you can do. Some people take airsoft realism to a very great extent, incorporating role playing tactics and special rules in order to make the simulation as accurate as possible. You do not have to do this if you do not want to, but it is always an option.
You also can get into this sport extremely easy, because you only need a few things to make it work. First, you can purchase a cheap airsoft gun for between twenty and forty dollars, a price that nearly anyone can afford. After that all you need is a protective mask and some ammunition, and you are ready to go. This is why I think airsoft is better than paintball, because you need much fewer supplies in order to play. As long as you have these essentials, as well as a place to play, there is nothing to stop you from engaging in recreational airsoft games.
