A Good Compound Bow Should Be Seen and Not Heard
There are many different types of compound bows available in the marketplace today and they are specifically made for different tasks. All of them fire arrows and all of them do their best to help you hit their targets but not all of them give you the performance you require. This is largely because of the varying levels of force that is applied based on frames of different sizes. The goal is to produce a bow that is accurate, silent and vibration free.
The silence is quite an important factor for the bowhunter who is relying on stealth as part of his method of hunting. No hunter wants to hear a loud “twang” when releasing an arrow at the quarry. The sudden noise would ensure that you’re only ever going to get a single shot and even then, a deer will react incredibly quickly to a sudden noise and you may not even get that one shot.
The amount of vibration that is experienced when releasing the arrow will affect the accuracy of the bow. A compound bow that has little vibration and doesn’t jump around in your hands is going to be much easier to shoot and your shots are going to be more accurate and consistent as a result.
The compound bows manufactured today have been designed to shoot very quietly with noise dampening technology engineered into the design. The quieter the bow the more desirable it is for the hunter. Those bows that are still considered to be too noisy can have accessories such as limbsavers, stabilizers and cat whiskers added to the frame in a bid to turn it into a stealth bow.
When you are paying close to a thousand dollars for a new compound bow you want to make sure it will perform at its peak. This means not only should it look the part but it should also know its place and keep quiet.
